Travel Superintendent - Big-Box (Costco)
Overview
We are partnered with a nationally recognized general contractor specializing in high-volume retail construction and rollout programs across the U.S. They are known for delivering complex, schedule-driven projects for major national brands, including big-box and membership retail clients.This role is responsible for leading field operations on large-scale retail projects, with a focus on Costco builds, ensuring execution across safety, schedule, quality, and coordination in fast-paced environments.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead all on-site construction activities from mobilization through final turnover on ground-up and renovation retail projects
- Manage daily field operations including subcontractor coordination, scheduling, site logistics, and inspections
- Drive project schedules in fast-track environments, ensuring milestones are met in line with client expectations
- Oversee site safety programs and enforce compliance with company and OSHA standards
- Coordinate closely with project management, preconstruction, and client teams to maintain alignment on scope, cost, and schedule
- Lead subcontractor meetings, daily huddles, and progress updates to maintain workflow and accountability
- Manage quality control processes, ensuring all work meets project specifications and brand standards
- Handle procurement coordination and delivery of materials to maintain schedule continuity
- Execute projects in open and active environments when applicable, minimizing disruption to operations
- Lead punch list completion, commissioning coordination, and final turnover to ownership
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction
- Direct experience building Costco projects or similar large-format retail clients
- Strong background in ground-up retail construction
- Experience managing fast-paced, schedule-driven projects with national brands
- Proven ability to lead field teams and coordinate multiple trades simultaneously
- Solid understanding of construction sequencing, site logistics, and safety management
- Experience with repeat client programs or national rollout work
- Nationwide travel required
