Position Overview

Red Diamond Freight is hiring experienced CDL A Owner Operators to haul frac sand in South Texas oilfield operations. This opportunity is for owner operators with their own tractor who want dedicated sand hauling work with strong weekly gross revenue potential.

Drivers will operate in a semi-local oilfield environment hauling sand with hopper bottom trailers. Hopper trailers are available through weekly rental, and owner operators with their own hopper trailers may also be considered if equipment meets required specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Haul frac sand to oilfield locations across South Texas
  • Operate safely in active oilfield and industrial environments
  • Use hopper bottom trailers for sand transportation
  • Complete dedicated and LTL oilfield hauling assignments
  • Follow DOT, customer, and company safety requirements
  • Maintain accurate logs, paperwork, and delivery documentation
  • Communicate professionally with dispatch and field contacts

Compensation & Work Details

  • Average gross weekly pay: $11,000 – $13,000
  • Paid weekly
  • 88% of load revenue
  • Dedicated / LTL freight
  • Average 100–400 miles per week
  • No driver load or unload
  • Semi-local oilfield work
  • No guaranteed weekends home

Equipment Requirements

  • Must provide own tractor (Power Only)
  • Hopper bottom trailers supplied through weekly rental
  • Owner operators using their own hopper trailer must meet required trailer specs
  • Hopper trailer legs/gears must be 19 inches from the ground
  • Maximum truck age: 10 years
  • No overdimensional trucks allowed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Minimum 12 months tractor trailer experience
  • PEC Safeland Certification required
  • Must be a qualified owner operator with own tractor
  • Strong safety record and professional work habits

Required PPE

  • Steel-toed boots
  • Flame-retardant vest
  • Safety goggles
  • Safety helmet
  • H2S monitor

Orientation Details

  • Orientation is unpaid
  • Orientation may be completed partially or fully online
  • Travel, lodging, and meals are not covered
  • Drivers are responsible for their own accommodations
