Microservices Architect Job Title: Microservices Architect Location: 100% Remote (Continental United States) Position Type: In-house Bright Vision Technologies SOW engagement (no third-party client or vendor) Salary: $100K - $150K / Annum Experience: 8+ years Sponsorship: No new H1B sponsorship available. Employment Terms & Visa Policy This is a 100% remote, full-time, direct W2 position with Bright Vision Technologies. This role is part of Bright Vision Technologies’ in-house Statement of Work (SOW) engagement. The client, end customer, and employer for this position is Bright Vision Technologies — there is no third-party client, vendor, or implementation partner involved. We do not engage in C2C, 1099, or third-party arrangements for this role. BUT STRICTLY NO C2C/1099/3RD PARTY COMPANIES. ALL OUR ROLES ARE W2 AND NO 3RD PARTY BROKERING PLEASE. Candidates must be willing to work directly as a full-time W2 employee of Bright Vision Technologies and contribute to our in-house SOW deliverables. No new H1B sponsorship is available for this role. However, candidates who are currently on a valid H1B visa and require a transfer are welcome to apply. Job Summary We are seeking a seasoned Microservices Architect to lead the design and evolution of large-scale microservices ecosystems built on modern container platforms and cloud-native technology stacks. The role requires deep expertise in service decomposition, domain-driven design, distributed data management, and runtime concerns such as resilience, observability, and security at scale. The ideal candidate brings hands-on architectural leadership across complex transformations, with a clear point of view on when microservices are the right answer, how to evolve them safely, and how to keep the resulting estate maintainable over the long term. Key Responsibilities<ul style="margin-bottom:4px;"><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Define microservices architecture standards, service boundaries, and decomposition strategies aligned with domain-driven design principles.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Lead the modernization of legacy monoliths into well-bounded, independently deployable services with clear ownership.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Design service communication patterns leveraging REST, gRPC, asynchronous messaging, and event streaming as appropriate.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Establish API contracts, schema governance, and versioning strategies that enable safe evolution of services over time.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Architect resilient distributed systems incorporating circuit breakers, retries, bulkheads, and graceful degradation patterns.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Define data ownership models, transactional boundaries, and patterns such as outbox, saga, and CQRS where appropriate.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Lead the design of platform capabilities including service mesh, API gateway, identity propagation, and shared observability.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Drive performance engineering, capacity planning, and scalability analysis across critical service domains.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Establish CI/CD, testing, and deployment standards optimized for high-frequency, low-risk service releases.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Define observability standards including structured logging, distributed tracing, and SLO-driven monitoring.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Collaborate with security teams to ensure zero-trust principles, secrets management, and runtime protection are embedded.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Mentor engineers and tech leads on microservices best practices and anti-pattern avoidance.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Lead architecture reviews and provide guidance on service design proposals across multiple teams.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Continuously evaluate emerging cloud-native technologies for adoption based on maturity and strategic fit.</li></ul>Required Qualifications<ul style="margin-bottom:4px;"><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Eight or more years of software engineering experience, with several years in architecture roles.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Deep expertise in microservices design, domain-driven design, and distributed systems patterns.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and service mesh technologies.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Proficiency in at least one major backend language such as Java, Go, or C#.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Strong understanding of API design, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous messaging.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Experience operating high-traffic, latency-sensitive systems in production.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Strong knowledge of cloud platforms and managed services across at least one major provider.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Demonstrated ability to lead architecture initiatives spanning multiple teams.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul style="margin-bottom:4px;"><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Experience with platform engineering and internal developer platform construction.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Familiarity with Istio, Linkerd, Envoy, or comparable service mesh technologies.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Exposure to FinOps practices and cloud cost optimization at scale.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Public speaking, open-source contributions, or published technical writing.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Experience in regulated industries with strict compliance requirements.</li></ul>How to Apply Would you like to know more about this opportunity?
