Librarian


The Part-Time Librarian plays a key role in supporting our educational mission by managing the school library, promoting literacy, and providing resources that align with our schools values. The librarian fosters a welcoming and resource-rich environment that serves students, staff, and faculty.

Duties


  • Manage day-to-day operations of the library, including circulation, cataloging, and inventory of books and materials
  • Curate and maintain a collection of literature and educational resources
  • Assist students and teachers in locating and using print and digital resources
  • Promote reading and literacy through book displays, reading programs, and library events
  • Collaborate with faculty to support classroom instruction and research projects
  • Maintain a quiet, organized, and respectful atmosphere conducive to reading and study
  • Ensure library materials reflect and support the academy’s mission and values
  • Communicate with Scholastic Book company, arranging for parent volunteers, and working the fair (additional hours after school and evening)
  • Read aloud to PreK and Kindergarten classes
  • Teach students research skills, digital citizenship, and library etiquette
  • Maintain library records and reports as required

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Education, or related field
  • Prior experience in a library or school setting preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with library management systems and digital resources
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students across grade levels
  • This position requires successful completion of a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse. Learn more here:

Physical Requirements


  • Ability to lift and carry books or boxes weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
  • Ability to push and pull carts loaded with books or materials
  • Manual dexterity for operating computer equipment and handling library materials
  • Visual and auditory ability to effectively interact with students and staff and to manage the library environment
