Join us and make a difference too!</p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p><span><b>Job Title: </b>HR Generalist</span></p><p><span><b>Location:</b>  Yokohama</span><br> </p><p><span><b>About the role</b></span></p><p><span>We are looking for an experienced and people-focused <b>HR Generalist</b> to join BSI’s People team.</span></p><p><span>In this role, you will provide end-to-end HR support across one or multiple countries, acting as a key contact for employees and managers across a broad range of HR matters. You will support the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, payroll coordination, employee relations support, benefits administration, and HR operations.</span></p><p><span>Working within a global matrix organisation, you will play an important role in ensuring employees receive a consistent, high-quality experience while balancing local employment requirements with global processes and policies.</span></p><p><span>This role also provides day-to-day guidance and support to local HR Administrators, helping ensure effective delivery of HR services across the region.</span><br> </p><p><span><b>Key Responsibilities</b></span></p><ul><li><span>Act as a key HR contact for employees and managers across assigned countries.</span></li><li><span>Manage end-to-end HR operations including onboarding, contractual changes, benefits administration, leave management, payroll coordination, and offboarding.</span></li><li><span>Maintain accurate employee records and country-specific HR documentation within HR systems.</span></li><li><span>Provide first-line guidance on HR policies, procedures, and employee lifecycle matters.</span></li><li><span>Support managers with routine people processes and best practice guidance.</span></li><li><span>Coordinate payroll inputs and support monthly payroll activities.</span></li><li><span>Support employee relations activity, triaging and escalating more complex matters where appropriate.</span></li><li><span>Maintain awareness of local employment legislation and support compliance with local labour laws and internal policies.</span></li><li><span>Support implementation of regional and global HR initiatives, including leadership development, systems changes, and performance processes.</span></li><li><span>Build strong relationships across the People team and wider business to ensure a seamless employee experience.</span></li><li><span>Support HR projects and contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes and ways of working.</span></li><li><span>Provide guidance and day-to-day support to local HR Administrators where applicable. </span><br> </li></ul><p><span><b>What we’re looking for</b></span></p><p><span><b>Essential</b></span></p><ul><li><span>5+ years of HR experience within a generalist or operational HR role.</span></li><li><span>Strong understanding of employment law, HR policies, and people processes.</span></li><li><span>Experience working within a <b>global or matrixed organisation</b>.</span></li><li><span>Experience using HR/HCM systems.</span></li><li><span>Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.</span></li><li><span>Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.</span></li><li><span>High levels of professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling sensitive information.</span></li><li><span>Strong problem-solving capability with the ability to apply sound judgement.</span></li><li><span>Business English and local language proficiency relevant to assigned countries. </span><br> </li></ul><p><span><b>Highly desirable</b></span></p><ul><li><span>HR-related qualification or certification.</span></li><li><span>Experience supporting multiple countries or regions.</span></li><li><span>Experience supporting employee relations activity or working closely with ER teams.</span></li><li><span>Experience contributing to HR transformation or process improvement initiatives.</span></li></ul><p><span> </span></p><p><span>BSI offers a competitive total reward package, an independent and varied job in an international environment, flexible working hours, and ongoing training and development.</span></p><p><span> </span></p><p><span><b>Do you believe the world deserves excellence?</b></span></p><p><span> </span></p><p><span>We are proud to be the business improvement company helping organisations become more sustainable and resilient — inspiring trust in their products, systems, services, and the world we live in.</span></p><p><span> </span></p><p><span>Headquartered in London, BSI is the world's first national standards organization with more than 100 years of experience.
