Hands on VP of Engineering / AI Strategy / Fullstack

This is a fully remote, full-time opportunity with a growing technology company operating at the intersection of SaaS, hardware, and the grocery industry. The engineering organization runs on a Ruby-based platform and is actively investing in AI-driven systems that integrate deeply into both software and physical products.

This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader who wants real ownership. The VP of Engineering will guide technical strategy, lead a lean engineering team, and play a critical role in shaping how AI is leveraged across the organization. This is not a purely strategic role, the company is looking for someone who enjoys building, mentoring, and driving execution while influencing long-term direction. Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Prior leadership experience managing engineering teams
• Strong experience with Ruby or Ruby on Rails
• Proven ability to stay hands-on while leading teams
• Experience working in SaaS or product-driven environments

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience implementing or scaling AI-driven systems
• Background in hardware + software integration
• Experience modernizing legacy systems
• Previous experience as a Principal or Staff Engineer transitioning into leadership
