ASL Activity Writer for High School Courses
We are searching for an <strong>American Sign Langugae Subject Matter Expert </strong>with recent ASL teaching experience for a contract position writing <strong>ASL activities for digital curriculum</strong> that will be used in <strong>high school</strong> classrooms. This contract position begins this summer.<br><br>The ideal candidate <strong>teaches ASL </strong>in high school, or at a college or community college, and can write to provide high school students with a solid foundation in the language. The candidate should have a vision of how students can learn and be assessed in the language through courseware. Courseware is delivered online to students attending virtual schools and it is a textbook replacement that supports what the student learns from an ASL teacher. <br><br>Qualifications and Skills:<ul><li>Strong skills in teaching and assessing receptive and expressive ASL, with an understanding of Deaf culture</li><li>Fluent in ASL and proficient in written English</li><li>Ability to disseminate language knowledge in writing</li><li>Ability to create video scripts for sign language videos</li><li>Skilled with creating engaging expressive and receptive activities to assess state curriculum and ACTFL standards effectively</li><li>Expertise in developing role-plays </li><li>Post-secondary ASL degree</li><li>Deadline-driven</li><li>Receptive to feedback </li><li>Can work remotely as part of a larger team</li><li>Open to using various tech applications - MS Word, Dropbox, Smartsheet, Slack</li></ul>For the chosen candidate, this freelance role could consume more than 5 hours/week over the next 2 years and will be completed in 2028.
