Davies Group Insurance sector is seeking an experienced Actuary to support current and future insurance operations across multiple states and product lines. This individual will perform rate reviews, reserve analysis, and actuarial studies; prepare and defend rate filings; and collaborate with accounting, external actuaries, consultants, and auditors. The role requires advanced analytical and programming skills in an insurance environment, along with strong communication and project management capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct actuarial studies including rate reviews, reserve analysis, and pricing for homeowners and commercial insurance lines.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory rate filings, responding to inquiries from state departments of insurance.
  • Collaborate with accounting, consultants, auditors, and other actuaries on financial and operational matters.
  • Access, analyze, and manipulate large data sets to support actuarial modeling.
  • Develop models and tools using SQL, R, Python, VBA, or other programming languages.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate actuarial results and recommendations to leadership.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional project teams.
  • Manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Risk Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of actuarial experience; homeowners and commercial insurance lines preferred.
  • ACAS (Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society) highly desired.
  • Progress toward FCAS (Fellowship) preferred but not required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, MySQL, Oracle, or similar database languages.
  • Proficient knowledge of R, Python, VBA, or similar programming languages.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
